Our Story
We’re celebrating 10 years of business with our customers who have helped us make a positive impact in our community. We’ve transformed iconic buildings, designed and installed cost and energy saving solutions to protect our environment and kept residents and employees safe and comfortable by maintaining and repairing their homes and work premises.
Speakman Contractors was founded in 2009 by brothers, Chris and Andrew, who recognised the need for a more integrated approach to providing building services. Their passion for delivering excellent service and quality solutions has led to numerous awards and accolades for their innovative solutions and hard-working ethos. But what’s more important to this family business is the trust we’ve gained from the wider community. Above all else, we value the relationships we’ve made as we strive to deliver accountability, excellence, honesty, integrity and reliability in all of our undertakings with customers, employees, suppliers and partners.
Our impressive portfolio, delivered by a highly skilled and proactive team, has given us an excellent foundation to build on, as we continue to grow and make a significant contribution to the local economy and the construction industry. Installation Team
We know that the quality of service we offer is due to the hard work and dedication of the people who deliver it. Indeed, we know that our people are our greatest asset. Our mission is to deliver high quality, cost-effective projects, safely and on schedule by employing, supporting and retaining a skilled and motivated team of professionals.
We are very fortunate to have a diverse team of qualified, skilled, motivated and time-served individuals who support each other as a team and take pride in their work. We do all we can to support our staff to achieve their career aspirations and to ensure that they continually update and refresh their skills.
Working in partnership with Burnley College, we support local, young talent and regularly employ a team of apprentices. Our investment in these apprentices is an investment in the future success of our business and in maintaining high quality workmanship in the UK construction industry.
Health & Safety
We are committed to a high and continually improving standard of health and safety management. Health and safety is an integral part of our business operations. We:
• Foster a culture of health and safety
• Promote a no blame culture
• Encourage staff not to walk past any unsafe act, condition or behaviour and challenge any of the latter and report accordingly
• Ensure all incidents or near misses are reported
• Insist that staff are fully trained and competent to carry out the tasks assigned to them
• Prepare Risk Assessments and Method Statements (RAMS) in conjunction with our customers that are tailored to each project and are reviewed regularly to monitor continuing suitability and performance
• Conduct regular unannounced staff spot checks for compliance against RAMS, safe methods of working, adherence to personal protective equipment (PPE) and holding the correct site and task specific permits
CHAS Approved
CHAS is established as the market leader for health and safety pre-qualification in the UK.

Environment
We see it as our duty to help protect the environments in which we operate. We have an environmental policy in place that aims to reduce the company’s environmental footprint by reducing consumption and waste of materials, preventing pollution and promoting recycling amongst our staff and contractors.
As a Registered Waste Carrier, we ensure materials will be handled and disposed of in a manner that does not damage the environment or cause pollution. We encourage staff to practice good environmental housekeeping at home and where possible we procure items that will have the minimum amount of environmental impact.

We conduct all of our business relationships on the principles of accountability, excellence, honesty, teamwork, integrity, reliability and flexibility. Our aim is to build mutually beneficial relationships with our suppliers.

As a NICEIC registered company, you can rest assured that Speakman Contractors is fully accredited to carry out electrical installations within the sectors we operate.
Complying with the latest IET regulations and health and safety requirements, our electrical team works closely with clients to achieve project installations that are deliver on time and to budget.
Speakman Contractors Electrical division is independently accredited by the National Inspection Council for Electrical Installation Contractors (NICEIC) and our services are underpinned by our ISO 9001 certified Quality Management System. Our customers can say we the utmost confidence that they are in safe hands.
All our Disability Adaptation work is compliant with current DDA regulations.
